Ontap OS installation FAS2040

Hello,

I am installing new FAS2040 with 2 diskshelf (dual Controller)

FSA2040 8x2TB disk

DiskShelf DS4243 24x2TB SATA

DiskShelf DS4243 12x600GB SAS

Ontap OS bydefault installed in DS4243 on SAS 600GB hdd.

i want OS to be installed 8x12 disk, how to configure that?

in one controller use 4th option to configure os  (Clean configuration and initialize all disks), but second controller i am not able to installed os, controller is rebooting.

Please choose one of the following:

(1) Normal Boot.
(2) Boot without /etc/rc.
(3) Change password.
(4) Clean configuration, assign ownership and initialize disks for root volume.
(5) Maintenance mode boot.
(6) Update flash from backup config.
(7) Install new software first.
(8) Reboot node.

Zero disks, reset config and install a new file system?: y

This will erase all the data on the disks, are you sure?: y

You should move the existing root volume to an aggregate on 2TB disks:

Hi,

I have FAS2040 with 2 controller and 1 DS4243 with SAS 300gb * 16 

FAS2040 is not having Internal Disk,  Need to install ONTAP 8.1 RC3 active / active config.

Please share the installation procedure.

From your myautosupport you can get a detailed procedure by selecting "upgrade advisor" where you specify current and new release you will upgrade to.

I missed to mention. This is new box.  Yet to start the implementation.

There are install and upgrade PDF in the ontap docs. For a new install you don't have to worry about ndu but can still do it. I would setup the box on the default ontap. Then run the "software update xxxx" command to upgrade.
