dear all,

Does anybody have a clear document how to do this?

I found this link but I am missing some steps .....  https://communities.netapp.com/message/115263?tstart=0

1) Install OnCommand on the host - Host Package??

2) Add the destination controller in Oncommand - what to do, does anyone have print screens??

3) Install OSSV

4) Create a source vol in OSSV machine. For Ex :- c\sv

5) Create a destination volume in filer

6) Create SV relation ship on Destination filer

thank you for your time, Moray

Please follow the above OSSV procedure (until page 16)

Page 17 onwards talk about Protection Manager integration.

You can make use of Snap Creator to schedule OSSV backups instead of Protection Manager.

An example configuration is given below.  (Please use this as a reference for your config syntax)

VOLUMES=OSSVHOST:c\sv

NTAP_USERS=filer:root/password

NTAP_SNAPVAULT_RETENTIONS=daily:1

NTAP_SNAPVAULT_WAIT=60

SNAPVAULT_VOLUMES=OSSVHOST:c\sv

NTAP_OSSV_FS_SNAPSHOT=N

NTAP_OSSV_FS_SNAPSHOT_CREATE_CMD01=

NTAP_OSSV_HOMEDIR="C:\Program Files\NetApp\snapvault"

NTAP_OSSV_ENABLE=Y

APP_IGNORE_ERROR=Y

If you need help please email to sivar at netapp.com

Thanks,

Thank you Siva,

I will poke around tomorrow at work, when I need more help, is it ok to contact you over this mail address?

Perhaps you can point me in the right direction.

We have a license bought for SnapManagerExchange for 4 mailservers and a license for SnapManagerSQL for 3 servers and out current old-fashioned IBM TSM-backup software is running out of compliance in a week, so I was asked to speed up the backup process with SnapTechnology. Fot central management I want SnapCreator to do the work, but my knowledge does not always give me the right insight and the product is so new that there is not much to find for help.

Any help is much appreciated,

With regards

Moray

With SME and SMSQL plugins, the backup software (SME and SMSQL) takes care of the backup and restore portion of it and Snap Creator simply acts as a scheduler application.

Please feel free to email me when you are trying to implement this solution, I can join a quick call and discuss more.

Thanks,
Siva Ramanathan
