7.3.5.1 vs. 7.3.5p1

What's the difference between Data Ontap 7.3.5.1 and 7.3.5P1? We did an upgrade from 7.3.5 to 7.3.5p1 a few weeks ago at one location and now two weeks later we installed 7.3.5.1 at the other location as it was the only version available on NOW.  Are they the same?  If not, should we have upgraded the first site to the 7.3.5.1?  Thanks for your help.

Hi,

You can compare two releases to determine differences using the release comparisons tool on the support website.

In this case it looks like two bugs were fixed in 7.3.5.1:

474501: Data ONTAP 7.3.5 not booting up on non-HA systems configured for  SnapMirror over FC

476486: Booting 7.3.5 may fail with "Too many disks have been  installed"

You can get more more details about the individual bugs using the bugs online tool.

It depends on your specific configuration if you are susceptable to these bugs or not so I'd check the bug details and then decide yourself if you need to update your system from 7.3.5P1 to 7.3.5.1.

Chris

Thanks, that's very helpful.  Although when I entered "7.3.5p1" in the "other" field it came back telling me that it's not a valid release.  What number did you enter?  Thanks.

Hi,

I just entered "7.3.5P1,7.3.5.1" in the Other(s)* field and hit search.  It takes a long time (60 seconds maybe) and then returned the answer I posted.

Cheers,

Chris

Thanks, I'll try that.  Right now it's timing out.
