Data ONTAP 8 and PAM II Cards

Hi everyone,

I'm a new NetApp customer and I'm still trying to get a feel for where to post things so forgive me if this is an old discussion.  We just purchased a FAS3140 with the 256GB PAM II cards.  We were considering deploying Data ONTAP 8 on this hardware but I just found in the readme for 8 that the PAM II cards are not supported.  Does anyone know if this will be changing in the near future?  I was considering building aggregates across two of our SAS shelves which from what I understand you need to have 8 for, so I'm now trying to decide if 7 would be a better fit.  While I've been dealing with IBM and EMC storage for years, what I know about NetApp is very minimal at this point so hopefully this isn't a 'noob' question!

Thanks!

What I was told by our local SE was that PAMII/Flash Cache will be supported in 8.0.1 and the old PAMI cards are currently supported.  I didn't find anything documented that confirms that however.

This may help:

http://now.netapp.com/NOW/knowledge/docs/hardware/NetApp/syscfg/scdot80/index.htm

Select NetApp storage systems for left pane, then FAS3140, then expansion slots/cards under the components section.

Notice only PAM I is listed here.

Alternatively go directly to:
