OS Replacement on OSSV host

Hello,

I have a number ow Windows Server 2003 R2 (32 Bit) file servers which OSSV Agent is installed. The servers are SnapMirrored to individual QTrees in a FlexVol.

The servers are to be upgraded to Windows Server 2008 R2, and as this is 64Bit, this will be acheived by replacing the OS volume, and importing the file shares into the registry. The data for the servers are held on the D: of the server.

Is there are way I can install the OSSV agent and set the hostname and ID to the original and maintain the existing SnapVault relationship, in effect sending the updated blocks fo rthe C: and not for the D:?

Thanks

Re: OS Replacement on OSSV host

Hi Sean,

I haven't personally tried it. The OSSV agent for win2k3 and win2k8 are different. I am not sure if this is possible or supported.

Re: OS Replacement on OSSV host

So the only way to complete the OS upgrade would be to complete a full baseline transfer?

Thanks

Sean
