SnapMirror with compression managed by SnapProtect?

Is it possible to use the SnapMirror compression feature on a SnapMirror relationship managed by SnapProtect?

Enabling compression in SnapMirror requires editing the /etc/snapmirror.conf, but my destination filers do not have entries in snapmirror.conf because SnapProtect manages the mirror.

Thanks!

SnapProtect uses Protection Manager underneath and PM doesnt create VSM relationships with compression.

Can I add entries to the /etc/snapmirror.conf with compression enabled, but a schedule set to - - - -?

I have existing SnapProtect managed VSM relationships initialized, but I'm looking to 'update' them with compression due to bandwidth limits.

Thanks

Yes, in order to create compression enabled VSM you will need a connection entry like this below.

conn=multi(192.168.1.94,192.168.1.77)

conn:n2 olive-oyl:dst_n2 compression=enable, - - - -

And SnapProtect( or Protection Manager) will not delete the compression entry only if the following options is not set any value for both your source and destination controller.

dfm host set <hostname-or-id-ip> hostPreferredAddr1=<should be empty>
