Snapshot rename fails

Hi All,

I'm using Protection Manager to snapvault all my data to a secondary controller.

For some volumes, the snapshot rename fails when trying to take a new snapshot on the secondary:

Fri Sep  9 15:43:47 CEST [coefil10: snapvault.tgt.failure:error]: Could not create Snapshot target "2011-09-09 13:16:05 hourly_coefil10_CoE_Datastores_ESX_DS_backup_1.-.CoE_Datastores_ESX_DS_coefilv002_coefilv002_nfs1" on volume CoE_Datastores_ESX_DS_backup_1: snapshot rename failed.

Because of this, my retention times for snapshots on the secondary cannot be kept.

Any idea on why it works for some, but not for other volumes?

Thanks

Jeff

Hi Jeff

Do you have found a Solution/Explanation for this behaviour? I have the same Message in the messagefile:

Fri May  4 10:17:18 CEST [snapvault.tgt.failure:error]: Could not create Snapshot target "2012-05-04_1016+0200_hourly" on volume snapcreator_server_AllDBs_arch_backup: snapshot rename failed.

But in the snap list all thing looks OK:

Filer> snap list snapcreator_server_AllDBs_arch_backup

Volume snapcreator_server_AllDBs_arch_backup

working...
