Symantec Netbackup 6.5.4

I was doing some research on the differences between NetApp and DataDomain using the OST option.  My question is what does this mean "Support NetApp P3 conversion to OST and metadata  support"  We were selected as 1 of 3 finalists of an RFP and our partner is pitching the OST option with Netbackup, I'd like a clearer definition.  This RFP was written towards DD because of inline dedupe and the single interface with Netbackup for managing replication among other things.  I'm looking for any ammunition.  The disk-as-disk option will win this RFP.  The customer did not want to manage a VTL and the disk-as-disk option allows them to change their backup direction without sacrificing their purchase.  This is where NetApp has the upper hand in my mind.

I am looking into the same thing.  From what I've found, P3 has been EOA'ed and will not be supported in Data ONTAP 8.0 or later:
