Would anyone tell me the deffernces between ONTAP8 7 mode and ONTAP8 Clustor mod ?

1) Can 7 mode setep as cluser ?

2) It seems like OTNAP8 Cluster mode inherit Ontap-GX under my investigation.

If it is true, what is the Ontap GX ? how it is different fron ONTAP7.

hi,

ONTAP8 7 mode is what usually you get with a NetApp box. It can be installed as a cluster, if you have a HA box (active-active) with dual controllers. It countinues the line of 7.3.x and to administer is basically the same. It also can be streched between sites (Metro Cluster).

The Cluster mode is a scale-out cluster built from HA pairs of controllers, where you have a global namespace and you can access you data anywhere
