Re: Understanding 7 and 8 -Mode 'license show' command output

Hi

a_sis ..checks for duplicate data, deduplication helps is space saving

flash_cache adding cache cards to controllers to improve performance

flex_scale enables  WAFL external cache functionality for a storage system that has a caching module installed refer https://library.netapp.com/ecmdocs/ECMP1196798/html/GUID-9F98325B-8CC2-4852-8855-094B2DA105C6.html

flexcache_nfs using cache for NFS protocol. refer https://library.netapp.com/ecmdocs/ECMP1196986/html/GUID-1481ACB5-274F-44CB-9D2B-F49A0FB3E267.html

http to enable http service

insight_balance useful in using oncommand insight for managing & optimizing the storage.

multistore to create vfiler units on the system. Refer https://library.netapp.com/ecmdocs/ECMP1155585/html/GUID-488ED3BE-44DB-411F-A952-2BF0E12C8DFE.html

nearstore_option The NearStore license enables your storage system to use transfer resources as conservatively as if it were optimized as a backup system. This approach is useful when the storage system on which you want to store backed-up data is not a system optimized for storing backups, and you want to minimize the number of transfer resources the storage system requires.

operations_manager
Operations Manager for the following day-to-day activities on storage systems:
• Discover storage systems
• Monitor the device or the object health, the capacity utilization, and the performance
characteristics of a storage system
• View or export reports
• Configure alerts and thresholds for event managements
• Group devices, vFiler units, host agents, volumes, qtrees, and LUNs
• Run Data ONTAP CLI commands simultaneously on multiple systems
• Configure role-based access control (RBAC)
• Manage host users, user groups, domain users, local users, and host roles

persistent_archive.. archiving data

protection_manager NetApp Protection Manager Protection Manager provides administrators with an easy-to-use management console for quickly configuring and controlling all SnapMirror®, SnapVault® and OSSV operations. The application allows administrators to apply consistent data protection policies across the enterprise, automate complex data protection processes, and pool backup and replication resources for higher utilization

provisioning_manager to create volumes

Snapmanager does backups based on the application http://community.netapp.com/t5/Tech-OnTap-Articles/Back-to-Basics-SnapManager-Suite/ta-p/86356
smdomino: email database
smsql
snapdrive_windows
snapmanager_hyperv
snapmanager_oracle
snapmanager_sap
snapmanager_sharepoint
snapmanager_vi

storage_services refer https://library.netapp.com/ecmdocs/ECMP1113681/html/html/GUID-02018A9D-8D7F-434F-8A76-EDB4C07417A0.html

snapvalidator Database servers and storage devices reside at opposite ends of the I/O path, exposing your data to risk at multiple points during data transfer. SnapValidator software leverages the protection built into Oracle Database systems and extends enterprise-class checksum capabilities to modular storage. End-to-end checksum data protection gives you the assurance that your data is written with 100% reliability. You can avoid disruptions and downtime due to data corruption and keep your critical business data available.

NetApp SnapValidator is integrated with the Oracle Database architecture and complies with the Oracle Hardware-Assisted Resilient Data (HARD) initiative for high data availability.

v-series use Selected FC-SAN storage arrays from EMC, HP, HDS, IBM, Fujitsu, and NetApp E-Series with V series controllers & use netapp storage capabilities

vld Backup & recovery feature refer https://kb.netapp.com/support/index?page=content&id=3010135&pmv=print&impressions=false
