Hi Guys,

I have netapp FAS 3220 it has ontap 8.1.4P1 7 mode. Now I am planning to upgrade to 8.3.2 CDOT. Below is the my queries Please help.

1. It has single controller so  is it required  cluster switch ?

2. Cabling need to be change? We have NetApp DS4243 Disk shelf and single controller

3. We can directly upgrade from 8.1.4 7 mode to 8.3.3 cluster mode?

4. If I upgrade to cluster on tap OS from 7 mode all data in volumes erase?

Please guide me.

Thanks

Re: Upgrade ontap 7 mode to CDOT 8.3.2

You cannot upgrade 7-Mode to C-Mode. You need to wipe clean and reinstall in C-Mode. Existing data is lost. If you want to preseve it, you need to migrate data to another C-Mode filer or backup and restore.

You mean we cannot upgrate 7 mode to C mode with existing data but we can install newly c mode with FAS 3220 Right? &

Single node cluster does not need cluster switch. Disk shelf attachment is the same in C-Mode as in 7-Mode.
