I need to add an alias to an interface that is not in the default ipspace and it is assigned to a vfiler. If I try to add via ifconfig alias command I get "ifconfig: can't assign address to fas4_vif_pci, no vfiler in this interface's ipspace (PCIenclave) has this address" and if I add via vfiler add no error just doesn't work. Is there a way to do this without taking the interface out of the ipspace and/or the vfiler?

You have to assign to an interface in the same Ipspace as that vFiler. Unfortunately there is no way to change an Ipspace name or change the vFiler Ipspace assigned once created. The only way is to destroy and create the vFiler in the Ipspace needed. All interfaces must be in the same Ipspace as the vFiler.
