disk auto assign not working...

I'm confused, anybody have some insights into the decision process of Ontap when to auto assign a replaced disk and when not to?

I see this more and more not working.

Example:

cluster filer

ontap 7.3.7P1

auto assign is ON

two disk shelfs, 1 with 1TB SATA (assigned to one head), 1 with 600GB SAS (assigned to the other head).

one disk fails, gets replaced and stays unowned...

only after manually assigning the disk it is available

Why is this system not able to auto-assign the disk?

Thanks for enlightening me.

Peter

Filer must own the whole loop for autoassign to work. And it has to be enabled ☺
