dowloading a cluster ONTAP package for upgrade

Hi everyone,

On the upgrade advisor, it says that for downloading the Data ONTAP software package, run this:

cluster image package get -url location

Is there an alternative, like in 7-mode, where we can just drop it to the software folder, via CIFS access?

If no, do you guys know of any portable web server that does not require installation?

Thanks,

MD

Hi,

You have to download CDOT image on your system first and then try HFS software to upload that image to netapp nodes

I prefer using HFS than FTP to upload image to nodes.

Hi Prakash,

Thanks for the reply. Does that require installation or is it portable?

Re: dowloading a cluster ONTAP package for upgrade

Hi ,

Download and install HFS software on you machine where u have the image downloaded. Then open HFS , there will be option to uplod image there.

Once done, you will be see an ln IP address at the top with complete path of image, which is nothing but ur system IP.

Use this https:// 10.x.x.x/image link while uploading image on Netapp.. this will work and you will see new image on image2 location on that particular node?

Hi ,

How did the upgrade go ? Successful ?

Hi,

I still have not done it. we have strict guidelines for installing software. If there is a portable version of the software it would have been great.

Often there are other places you can put the image file that are accessible via http.  For example, if you have the VSC deployed the folder where it keeps ISOs and vibs is a possibility.
