Enabling Jumbo Frames

Hi All,

Please advise how to implement Jumbo Frames , do i need to set it on each n every interface i have , please advise as we have VLANS and VIF's as well. Will it effect anything as my iscsi LUNS going to Windows 2008 server which has SQL DB running.Please also help out with other ways to TUNE the iscsi performance.

Filer :- FAS2040 , Ontap Version :- 7.3.4

FAS01> ifconfig e0a mtu 9000 ---> Is this is the command all i need to do ??

Hi Nayab,

That's all what you need. You can add it to the RC file to make it permanent.

But, keep in mind, you have to configure it also on the switches and vlan's you're on, and also on the sending parts.

So, also the servers need to be configured with jumbo frames to get the benefits of it.

Other point, some switches need to be set to a higher MTU size to support it(exampe MTU of 9148)
