FAS2220 re-build

Hi guys,

I am totally new to Netapp and i just inharited a FAS2220 unit which was for some reason configured as NAS.
I'd like to re-build it and configure it as a SAN with RAID10, HA and all the goodies with the latest firmware for the controllers, disks and everything else.
I was already able to find an article on how to reboot the device and to reset it to factory defaulr via a console cable but i am not sure what to do before/after.

If there's a better way of re-configuring this device other than factory-reset it i would love to know.

Thanks!

Hi,

You do not have to do factory reset. You can simple delete the existing vserver and create a new vserver and configure LUN for SAN. RAID 4, RAID DP are the only 2 options available. If you are creating a new aggregate you can select a RAID type. If using existing aggregate use aggregate modify to change the RAID type. I suggest upgrading to 8.3 Clustered Ontap and use advanced data partitioning feature to use the space efficiently. Refer https://www.netapp.com/us/media/tr-3982.pdf, https://library.netapp.com/ecmdocs/ECMP12458217/html/index.html

Thanks so much!

So the first step I assume would be to delete the vserver, correct? It's on the Netapp I assume? iIf so, would you mind explaining me how to do that and then how to configure the LUN for SAN?

Thanks so much for your help with this one!
