IOM3 <> IOM6E

I have recently setup a new 2240-4 with 2 x DS4234 shelfs in a single stack - I noticed an error stating disks were owned by both controllers - My cable config is correct, however, I used wiregauge which states IOM3 and IOM6E shelfs can not be on the same port - This is reported for both SAS ports 0a and 0b....????? DOT 8.1RC2

Re: IOM3 <> IOM6E

Well, I guess WireGauge needs update. Do feedback on WireGauge page; the more people complaint the more chances it will be fixed

May be you can even file a bug on NetApp tools support site, I am not sure if WireGauge is listed there.

I do not quite understand what error are you talking about. It is always better to copy and paste output verbatim.

Re: IOM3 <> IOM6E

Ok, from your comment I assume IOM6 <> IOM3 are compatible?

See error below:

Re: IOM3 <> IOM6E

FAS2240 supports both DS4243 and DS2246, even mixed in one stack.

Your message is not an error. Disk autoassignment is possible only if whole stack is owned by one head only. You obviously do not have it. It makes sense to disable disk autoassign - it will not work anyway, so it will stop false alarms.

great - thanks
