Microsoft recently launched their virtualization solution, Hyper-V. In the Sept issue of Tech OnTap, I wrote a piece on Hyper-V and NetApp. In the article, I described some of the features of Hyper-V in case you aren't too familiar with it yet, and goes on to talk about storage provisioning and use of NetApp features such as thin provisioning, deduplication, Snapshots, etc. in Hyper-V environments.

You can check out the article at http://www.netapp.com/us/communities/tech-ontap/hyperv.html

What do you think about Hyper-V? Have you tried it yet? Is your organization considering deploying it?

Looking forward to your feedback and discussions.

For those of you interested, I was at an event yesterday in Irvine CA where Microsoft and NetApp hosted 50+ customers on our mutual benefits in the virtualized infrastructure environment. Many customers who have been using virtualization for quite some time expressed a strong interest in the area of management tools, specifically with SCVMM (System Center Virtual Machine Manager) and SCOM (System Center Operation Manager) when it comes to ubiquitous management of physical and virtual entities through a single pane of glass.

On October 2nd, we have a Webcast where NetApp and Microsoft virtualization specialists - as well as an infrastructure architect from Avenade - who will be discussing these topics in great amount of technical details and will also answer live questions you may have when it comes to implementation considerations.

You can check out the ondemand Hyper-V Webcast formore details. It includes a full transcript if you want to quickly scan for specific points.
