cannot map drive to vol0 cifs

I am trying to map or unc to the vol0 of filer

\\filer

it prompts for ad username and password

but its not on the domain

so I used

filername\root

xxxxx

then prompts again for a password

any idea?

I am able to login after creating a new user and granting that user BUILTIN\Administrators priv.

however the ETC$ share still says I dont have access.

i turn on

wafl.nt_admin_priv_map_to_root on

but now I can access $ETC but cannot write to it? What is wrong with this?

Make sure the volume security style of the $ETC reside should be NTFS.

example: qtree security /vol/vol0 ntfs
