Unified Manger SAN releated event

Can Unified Manager detect the following event under SAN environment?

1. HBA of storage side failure

2. FC cable failure or link down state

2. SAN switch port failure

Best Regards,

Re: Unified Manger SAN releated event

I hope you are asking for OCUM 6.0? If yes then here are the answers:

SAN events in OCUM 6.0 is more or less related to LUN accessibility issues from ONTAP perspective.

1. HBA of storage side failure

    No.

2. FC cable failure or link down state

    FC cable failure - No.

    Link down: OCUM 6.0 detects the logical interface(LIF) operation status which goes to down, if there is any link failure. During these times respective LUN events are processed.

2. SAN switch port failure

    No.

Re: Unified Manger SAN releated event

Thanks for quick reply.

Re: Unified Manger SAN releated event

Sorry, with UM 5.3 and 7-mode, the no detections above 1,2,3 the same?

Re: Unified Manger SAN releated event

1) Addition of an FC link break event is currently being considered for an upcoming 5.2.x release.

New events are added to the OnCommand console to allow alarm generation for SCSI Target Link Break detection

2) Any of the events having to do with monitoring a switch would require a SAN license, which has not been sold since DFM 3.2 as I recall.

dfm fcswitch

This command allows you to edit and list the Fibre Channel switches managed by the DataFabric Manager server.

dfm fcswitch add { all | object ... }

Add a Fibre Channel switch to the list of switches managed by the DataFabric Manager server. If you use the all argument, the command re-adds all previously deleted Fibre Channel switches.

Adding a Fibre Channel switch usually adds the primary network to which it is attached to the list of networks on which the DataFabric Manager server tries to discover new appliances. Use -N to add a Fibre Channel switch without adding its network.

dfm fcswitch delete { all | object ... }

Remove Fibre Channel switches from the list of switches monitored by the DataFabric Manager server.

dfm fcswitch list [ -a ] [ -q ] [ object ... ]

Display the Fibre Channel switches being monitored. The options are the same as for dfm host list.

3) Any of the HBA events require the Host Agent be installed on the remote host and added to UM.

dfm hbaport
The hbaport command manages the list of HBA ports on managed SAN Hosts.

dfm hbaport add { all | object ... }

Add a HBA port to the list of HBA ports managed by the DataFabric Manager server. If you use the all argument, the command re-adds all previously deleted HBA ports.

dfm hbaport delete { all | object ... }

Remove HBA ports from the list of HBA ports monitored by the DataFabric Manager server.

dfm hbaport list [ -a ] [ -q ] [ object ... ]

Show the HBA ports being monitored by the DataFabric Manager server. The options are the same as for dfm host list.

Re: Unified Manger SAN releated event

Do yo have dfm SAN license ? If so you may as kevin listed above, else you may not as the SAN license is EOA and EOS IIRC.
