netapp CNA card

Hi,

Does anyone has any idea how CNA card should work? I've tried to set it up with nexus 5548UP, it it doesn't work (link won't come up)

This is how it looks like atm:

I can't see it on flogi database on nexus. I wonder can I somehow defaine that FC VLAN ID on netapp side? Should I do that at first place?

Nexus should be configured as documents says, so that's why I think it's netapp's problem -- or both

Ok, there are a couple of things, are you running ONTAP 8.0 or higher?

We have been running the CNAs since November of last year when our newest 3160 cluster came online.  There is nothing to configure on the filer side for FC connectivity.  Obviously there is all the standard Ethernet configuration for IP based traffic.

Your VSAN does have to be configured and up and running.  We are using Nexus 5010 and 5020 switches.  I only know the basics of how those are configured, our network guys have taken over the connectivity now.  I had to do nothing other than provide them the WWPNs on the filer side.

Link UP, but link not connected would lead to me double check the zoning and VSAN configurations.  Until the network guys completed our setup, we saw the same thing.

Hi,

of course we have fcp started...

we are running ONTAP 8.0.2 7-mode

We have Nexus 5548UP and zoning and VSAN are configured.

I don't understand why the interfaces are not UP.

I would put configurations next week.

thanks a lot

If you haven't read through it yet, TR-3800 (http://www.netapp.com/us/library/technical-reports/tr-3800.html) gives step-by-step instructions on configuring an FCoE environment with Cisco Nexus 5000 switches. Please note that on the 5548 / 5596 switches class-fcoe must be created, where on the 5010 / 5020 switches it was there by default. This is covered in the latest version of the TR (version 2.0).

Okay we just have found the problem.

2 things :

- we have to be in mode trunk on the nexus 5548 interface connected to UTA

- we tried to make a port channel on the same N5K (not a vPC) and this configuration is not supported

The only way is to have 2 N5K with vPC actived or do not make port-channel.

The FC VLAN ID is set automatically when you look at the command : fcp show adapter -v

Thanks for help,
