Happy FY17 – APAC kicks off the new (financial) year with a bang!

By Tara Bal, Head of Communications, NetApp APAC

With April being the last month of our fiscal year 2016 – we can certainly say that NetApp APAC started the year on a high note!

In May, Rick Scurfield, NetApp’s APAC President, shared his insights with APAC CIO Outlook on how companies can Find the Right Balance of Data and IoT. In the article, Rick highlights the daunting task CIOs face today of making sense of the various sets of data coming from multiple sensors – and most importantly, organizing this data to make it even more valuable to their businesses. He also highlighted that in order to set the perfect data environment for ground-breaking innovations CIO’s need to find the right balance of data and technologies to set the perfect data environment for ground-breaking innovations.

On the hot topic of FinTech, Rick shared his view in Business Times’ weekly column Views From The Top on the exciting new technologies that are challenging the traditional banking model as we know it, with the resulting deluge of data fast becoming the world’s digital currency.

Meanwhile in India, Girish Kumar, NetApp’s Senior Technical Analyst, shared his first instalment of a three-part series blog on DataQuest about the Evolution of the Modern Data Center. If you haven’t had a chance to read it yet please make sure you have a read, as it is an excellent perspective on the impact of distributed applications and commodity hardware on the future of data centers, providing the much-needed agility organizations need in order to quickly respond to changing business requirements, all in just a few clicks.

Business Times Leader’s Forum 2016

Blog 1.jpgWith the end of May in sight, what could have been a more exciting way to finish the month than with the inspiring, forward-looking views shared at the Business Times Leaders’ Forum on #FutureEconomy? Both Rick and I attended the session, which featured thought-provoking viewpoints from Singapore’s Minister for Trade and Industry, S. Iswaran, and business creativity expert and author, Frederik Haren.

To top this all off, we celebrated the ONTAP 9 Launch - NetApp’s next generation software that lets you move your data - with our very own Launch Party in our Singapore office.  Check out some of the fun photos below of our Regional team embracing the “green” theme of the celebrations.

May has certainly gotten the year off to an exciting start and left us all fueled with new inspiration and ideas for FY17 and we can’t wait to share some of these with you in the coming months, so stay tuned and we wish you all a happy and prosperous FY17!

Awsome to be part of this team!  Innovation is everywhere where the customers, partners and NetApp intersect.  It's about solving business needs, not pushing products.  Providing solutions, not selling software.

Great article Tara!
