Rob also expanded on Cisco’s global commitment to invest more than $1Bn over the next two years to build the world’s first truly open, hybrid cloud. The Cisco Intercloud will be built on Cisco cloud technologies and deliver an open standards-based global infrastructure, designed to support any workload, on any hypervisor and interoperate with any cloud. Automation and speed of deployment will be leveraged through Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure to:

  • Optimize application performance;
  • Roll out new services much faster;
  • Improve application security, compliance, auditing, and mobility.

Data ONTAP with NetApp’s Cloud ONTAP® and OnCommand Cloud Manager®

In parallel, NetApp continues to dominate the market with the Number 1 Branded Storage Operating System as ranked by IDC, and at Insight we were able to share how NetApp’s clustered Data ONTAP 8.3 now features Cloud ONTAP and OnCommand Cloud Manager. These products combine with Cisco offerings to deliver hybrid cloud software-defined data management solutions for storage efficiency, seamless scalability, and non-disruptive operations.

Cloud ONTAP provides the customer with the flexible option of running ONTAP OS on Cisco server hardware as a virtual machine in the cloud and is used in conjunction with OnCommand Cloud Manager. OnCommand Cloud Manager delivers a customer portal for extremely efficient and easy provisioning of Cloud ONTAP and movement between private and public cloud providers.
