Flashback Friday—NetApp at This Week’s Flash Memory Summit

Over 4,000 attendees flocked to the Santa Clara Convention Center this week to attend the 2014 Flash Memory Summit. Attendees looked to discover new products and technologies, improve their technical expertise, and learn more about the flash industry. Below is a flashback of NetApp at this week’s event.

Booth visitors learned about NetApp’s flash portfolio including watching demos of our EF-Series, and the recently announced All-Flash FAS. With 93PBs of Flash shipped and a broad portfolio that includes both hybrid and all-flash storage offerings, you can imagine there was a lot to talk about and see at Booth #217!

NetApp & Customer Hit the Stage!

NetApp participated in eight speaking sessions, including Ty McConney, Vice President of Flash Products, taking the stage as a keynote presenter to discuss how one size and type of flash memory simply won’t do the job everywhere. His point was validated as NetApp customer, Steve Knipple, CTO, VP Engineering at EasyStreet, discussed his company’s approach in choosing the best mix of flash and traditional storage.

Predictions were also made, "NetApp predicts the cheapest flash will get cheaper than SAS HDDs by around 2017. SATA will stay cheaper than any flash."

And the Award Goes to…………..NetApp EF Series & All Flash NAS SSD!!!

One of our proudest moments came Wednesday evening. NetApp was honored with two awards for its leadership and customer flash implementation. The first award received was the Best of Show Most Innovative Flash Memory Customer Implementation for EF-Series all-flash array deployment at Diamond Light Source. Second, NetApp took the lead in the five categories in an IT Brand Pulse SSD survey on All Flash NAS SSD—Market Leader, Performance, Reliability, Service & Support and Innovation.

As Lance Leventhal, Program Chairperson, Flash Memory Summit, says, “Receiving an IT Brand Pulse award shows that a company is doing the job where it really counts – in the field!”

That’s a look back for Flashback Friday! This week certainly went by in a flash!
