Among the 13 industry solutions listed in Gartner’s inaugural Magic Quadrant for Integrated systems, the Cisco/NetApp FlexPod integrated infrastructure solution was positioned as one of only three companies in the Leaders Quadrant, based on both ability to execute and completeness of vision.
The Integrated Systems Magic Quadrant tracks multiple categories within what Gartner defines as the Integrated Systems sector, including integrated infrastructure systems with server storage and network hardware integrated software to deliver appliance-like functionality. Gartner states that the integrated system market is growing at 50 percent or more per year, with an unusual mix of major vendors and start-ups.
Gartner states that integrated systems are combinations of server, storage and network infrastructure, sold with management software that facilitates the provisioning and management of the combined unit. The market for integrated systems can be subdivided into broad categories, some of which overlap.
Cisco and NetApp developed FlexPod to meet the demands of business leaders who need to consolidate IT infrastructure, save energy costs, host more applications, and share resources across different departments. The portfolio is validated with leading hypervisors, operating systems, systems management tools, and cloud management platforms.
FlexPod continues to deliver innovative new validated designs that will continue to set it apart from the integrated system pack, including ones built on Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) for software-defined automation and efficiency, as well as the industry’s only unified scale-out storage, the new NetApp FAS8000 storage platform. We appreciate the recognition that this new Magic Quadrant provides, helping further assure FlexPod’s continued industry success.
