Looking Back on Cisco Live US 2016

Cisco Live US 2016: It’s a wrap! Out here in Las Vegas, it’s been a whirlwind week of activity. We’ve spent the past few days sharing out our latest innovations, spending time with friends and business partners, and having some fun. (And, in the desert heat, rekindling our sense of appreciation for air conditioning!)

All that activity is enough to make a head spin. But the event went off without a hitch for all 26,000-plus CLUS live attendees, as well as for the thousands of guests who joined online. That’s thanks in no small part to the power of Flexpod. Working together with our partners at Cisco, we ran the entire conference using FlexPod with All Flash FAS and Metrocluster.

It’s these collaborations that make CLUS so great — and this year in particular. Not to mention our collaborations with all of you! Thousands of faces both new and familiar streamed through Booth 2523, and we were delighted to better get to know the entire NetApp community.

Didn’t attend Cisco Live this year? Even if you did, we’re guessing you didn’t catch everything, (various Pokémon Go critters excepted). Here’s your rundown of CLUS 2016.

Highlights from the Floor (and Stage)

Cisco Live NetApp PresentationOn the floor in our World of Solutions booth, we shared ideas and solved problems. We know there’s real value in the hands-on experience — that’s why our experts were excited to meet with you in-person. Whether you chatted with a NetApp executive in a VIP meeting or engaged in a product demo, we aimed to walk you through the latest in storage tech:

  • CCA with Microsoft Cloud Platform: CCA–MCP 2.0, edge-Cloud end-user experience
  • FlexPod: AFF with SQL, AFF with VMware, AFF with VDI, AltaVault
  • SolidFire: OpenStack, Docker, MetaPod
  • Other: Iaas with Puppet, docker/containers

Our team at the NetApp booth talked with over 2,600 visitors to the booth and participated in an engaging conversation, or one of our activities. A big shout-out to those who played our ITIQ trivia game. And we thought we were the tech experts! We’ll have to make the questions harder next year — and with harder questions, better prizes. If you weren’t able to play, we hope you still left Vegas with some NetApp swag.

Didn’t catch the industry keynote, “Digitization in a Cloud-Native World”? Val Bercovici, our Solidfire CTO, along with Trey Laytona (EMC), Sandra Rivera (Intel) and Zorawar Biri Singh (Cisco), discussed the power of digital solutions for real-world business problems. As expected, it did not disappoint. Watch the whole talk here.

Spending Time with the NetApp Community

We loved the fantastic conversations we had together with you this week. If you didn’t chat with us at the booth or on Twitter, there was lots of face time at our evening events. On Monday, we spent time breaking bread and building connections. After a long, busy first day, it was a welcome retreat from the conference floor.

That was just the beginning. Did you join us when we caught the “Michael Jackson: One” show Tuesday? The holographic spirit of MJ shimmied and swayed into our hearts. And with the Maroon 5 concert the following night at the T-Mobile Arena, our ears are still ringing. (Anyone have Adam Levine’s number? We’d like to send him a FlexPod shirt.)

So many memories! Let us know your favorite moments in the comments.

Until Next Year, CLUS

To all those who participated in NetApp’s events at Cisco Live US: Thank you! And a special thank-you to our friends at Cisco. We’ve said it before and we’ll certainly say it again: We couldn’t do what we do without this partnership.

If you weren’t able to make it this year, let’s start a new conversation soon. If we got to speak at CLUS, stay in touch so we can continue the conversation!
