It's great when you have colleagues who are sharp and are willing to share their insights.
Below is a guest blog from my colleague, Mattew Miller, Sr. Product Marketing Manager for our Midrange FAS storage systems.
There has been a long running trend in IT to design, build and sell comprehensive solutions that solve customers' big problems today. No controversy there, I fully agree. However, we do from time to time need to be reminded that "solutions" are ultimately made up of (and often purchased as) individual products. At the end of the day, you need to have a solid foundation reinforcing any solution if you expect it to perform up to expectations.
Well, one of those reminders came recently, when DCIG's latest Midrange Unified Storage Buyer's Guide named it's top midrange storage arrays for 2013. When the final results were in, NetApp FAS3200 systems took the four top spots in the Buyer's Guide, the first time a storage provider has ever done so in any DCIG Buyer’s Guide. Factors that particularly contributed to the NetApp FAS3200 models scoring so well were its full integration with VMware vSphere, the same management software across its entire line of midrange unified storage models and its read and write flash-based caching – all of which NetApp has been known for for many years.
So the next time you are considering solutions from different vendors in the industry, remember: the solution is only as good as the products that fortify it. There is no substitute for quality.
