Hi,

It was brought to my attention that currently MetroCluster and vSphere 5 are not listed as supported on

the HCL and according to this articel: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1001783

does somebody know why?

(vSphere 4 and 4.1 are listed)

regards,

Helmut

NetApp MetroCluster has had VMware "KB" based support for several years. More recently VMware created the Metro Cluster storage certification program but initially it included FC protocol only. As NetApp has customers who deploy multiple protocols we discussed with VMware and they agreed to extend the program to the other protocols as well.  It took a while to get the program extended for all protocols, and then for NetApp and VMware to complete testing and sign-off, and is the reason for the delay. The delay is no more...as of September NetApp is on the VMware HCL for Metro Cluster storage for FC, iSCSI, and NFS!

Helmut -

Most likely they have not completed the certification yet ... ?

Hi Helmut,

it´s really strange when i think of "Flexpod" and "unified support". I found that post:
