Virtual Storage Console (VSC) for Apache CloudStack is a plug-in that enables you to efficiently manage your NetApp storage from within Apache CloudStack (ACS) or Citrix CloudPlatform (powered by Apache CloudStack) (CCP).

VSC simplifies common storage tasks, saving time and eliminating complexities associated with storage management.

VSC provides the following benefits:

  • Simplifies and automates the provisioning, resizing, and destruction of storage by implementing the vendor neutral storage subsystem API available from ACS or CCP
  • Enables visibility into storage consumption, available space, and storage efficiency
  • Provides the ability to take virtual machine snapshots on a per-request basis when running VMware vSphere
  • Includes additional features not otherwise available on Citrix CloudPlatform, such as backing up the management server’s database
  • Leverages other NetApp storage efficiency technologies (such as FlexVol technology, FlexClone technology, and Snapshot technology)
  • Offloads the backup and recovery to the NetApp storage system, providing a significant performance increase on the virtual machine
  • Enhances data recovery and protection by providing multiple backup locations (primary storage and NetApp Snapshot copies)

Please review the Installation and Administration Guide for a complete description of what the VSC can do.
