Powershell Script to Open Windows Firewall for OnCommand Balance

by Occasional Contributor on ‎2011-08-24 08:40 AM

Due to complaints of insecurity, Microsoft has locked down  Windows to the point that Windows Firewall blocks WMI by default. Since I already had a large number of VMs it was not practical to log into each individually and open the necessary ports so I wrote a PowerShell script that does it remotely for all Windows VMs that are powered on. The script does require that the user has installed the VMWare PowerCLI which is a free download from http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/PowerCLI/index.html. I thought that the script might be useful customers and partners so I've posted it here. Hope you find it helpful.
