Adding datasources to AIQUM 9.18 fails

Hey NetApp Community,

Just sharing this, hopefully it helps other customers if you encounter an issue with AIQUM 9.18 when attempting to add a datasource and receive the following error:

Unable to add cluster datasource. This can occur if the clocks on the systems are not synchronized and the Active IQ Unified Manger HTTPS certificate start date is later than the date on the cluster, or if the cluster has reached the maximum number of EMS notification destinations.

In the "C:\ProgramData\NetApp\OnCommandAppData\ocum\log\ocumserver.log" file you will notice the following error:

I updated my Active IQ UnifiedManager from 9.16P2 to 9.18, and everything worked fine, including cluster discovery.
Now I’ve updated a cluster to 9.17.1P6, and cluster discovery no longer works. I’ve tried everything I can think of and searched everywhere, but unfortunately haven’t found anything about this.

Does anyone know what this problem is?

Good day, we activated NaBox v4.2.0 email alerts, but we have to fine tune them, i.e. because thresholds differ from the one we defined in AIQUM.

What's the suggested way to proceed? import the Data source-managed rules in Grafana-managed rules in order to be able to edit them?

P.S.: we also currently find duplicated rules...

Still getting this error after seeing that the clock systems were fine. The HTTPS cert on UM expires 2026 while the cluster HTTPS cert expires on a later date, 2027. The EMS notification was increased to the suggested amount (5) via: Active IQ Unified Manager fails to add ONTAP cluster due to a breach of max number of EMS notification destinations - NetApp Knowledge Base

Not sure why I'm not able to add any cluster to Active IQ UM.

NetApp-AFF-ONTAP - Unable to list the volume usage metric values on prometheus using harvest exporter.

Configured harvest exporter and initially it was fetching or populating values for all metrics.

No recent changes but it stopped populating values for volume related metrics.

On NetApp- ONTAP i could see lot of pending GET requests from harvest user in audit logs.

Issue observed with volume usage metrics and snapshot metrics volume_size_used,volume_size_available,volume_filesystem_size,volume_size_total,volume_size_used_percent,volume_inode_used_percent,volume_inode_used_percent,volume_snapshots_size_used,volume_snapshots_size_available

how to migrate AIQUM to a new server

I have an old installation of AIQUM version 9.14 on an Centos7 server and i would like to move it on an RHL9 server.

As far as i can see i should first migration to a RHEL8 server with the 9.14 version. Then upgrade on place to 9.16 and after migrate to the RHEL9 server with a 9.16 version.

But i have a problem with the firt step.

I have installed my RHEL8 server with 9.14 version.

I can connect with no problem.

i have make a baclup on my old server tansfer the required files

I have restored the filed with the maintenance console on the RHEL8 server. I got no error

but rght now i can't log on my new server on the web interface.
i never get the banner for entering credentials.

Did i use the good way to make this migration?

Hi All,

We have recently installed NetApp IQ Unified Manager, and in this last week ive upgraded the system to the latest version at this time, 9.16P2.

I'm trying to configure the system to use a ca generated certificate rather than the self-generated cert. - Now I dont claim to be any sort of PKI expert, but i have generated lots of certs in my time and got them working. However for this i am sort of stumped.

I've used the GUI to generate the CSR file. I've submitted this to our internal CA and i've got a .cer file back. Ive converted it to a .pem file and when i try to upload the cert if gives me the following error.

When i install the cert in windows I can see that there is a full chain on the cert. ActiveIQ doesn't appear to be able to see that. I'm guessing its something im doing wrong.

Can anyone confirm the steps that do work and i can try again. Or is this a bug?

When is support for Entra ID or any of the other providers coming for UM?

Reason I ask is because we've tried (with less than stellar results) to make this work. Note the word "tried". It works for a bit, then fails for all users and has to be disabled. More or less wondering if SAML is one of those features which might work, but there's no real ongoing validation or testing going on to provide some sort of recommendations for making it reliable.

If anyone's using this with no issues, there must be something the docs don't provide.

Ontap PowerShell Toolkit: How to create a security descriptor from the DACLs of an existing dir

I'm looking for help on creating some powershell code that retrieves the current DACLs of a volume (or directory path) and stores it as a security descriptor. I had come across this page on the web (http://www.craig-tolley.co.uk/2016/02/09/assigning-permissions-to-a-volume-through-the-netapp-powershell-toolkit/) and it guided me through applying new permissions using the OnTap Powershell toolkit - however I cannot devise a way to modify the code so that an ACE can be removed or added to the ACL (Security Descriptor).

I presume it's some combination of Get-NcFileDirectorySecurity and (New-NcFileDirectorySecurityNtfs or Add-NcFileDirectorySecurityNtfsDacl). I've investigated all of the *NcFileDirectorySecurity* cmdlets, and only Get-NCFileDirectorySecurity appears to retrieve currently applied permissions, but it cannot be pipe'd into another cmdlet 😞

My larger objective is to build a WFA command that allows a user to add/remove an AD Group from their volume. I've found the Powershell toolkit to be much quicker and straightforward than using (Get-Acl / Set-Acl)

Remove System not possible

We have an old FAS2520 in the cluster setup. We want to remove these. Unfortunately we cannot remove the system, it remains at Operation "Deletion" (Operation state "In Progress"). We restarted the Active IQ Manager, to no avail. The system has also been decommissioned for a long time. We use Active IQ Manager 9.13P1. Does anyone have an idea what else we can do?

Hey team! We just installed NAbox and started using grafana. Right after installing it I was able to edit panels. I now get the same error when trying to create a Dashboard.

I searched the community but wasn't able to find anything that looked like the problem I'm having. I'm logged in as admin, I've restarted NAbox, relaunched browser, etc. all the normal things.

I appreciate everyone's help that can give it.

I am currently planning to upgrade my NetApp Active IQ Unified Manager from version 9.12 to 9.14, but I have found that the available upgrade paths listed in the support documentation only include upgrades from version 9.11 to 9.13, 9.13 to 9.14, and so on.

Could you please confirm if it’s possible to directly upgrade from version 9.12 to 9.14, or would I need to upgrade through an intermediate version (e.g., 9.12 → 9.13 → 9.14)?

NABox Public Dashboards

When I initially tried to use NABox Public Dashboard links for use in an executive summary, I got a warning about template variables.
I cloned a few panels into a new dashboard and hardcoded the template variables values.
That worked fine and public dashboard link appears correctly.
However when I browse to the public link, the dashboard comes up, but each panel reports "No data" and an "Internal Server Error" pops up on the screen.

Has anyone gotten NABox Public Dashboard links working?
