Hi,

we got a new 2554 shipped with 8.3 but want to downgrade to 8.2  7-Mode.

Since i dont want to deal with c-dot at the moment we canceled system setup and played with it a little before wiping it the first time.

Now our first image has 8.3 still and the backup image is 8.2.3 (installed via system node image update ftp server.

When i boot from backup within the boot manager i still cant 8.2.3 usable since its makeing a kernel dump and reboots again and again.

Whats the easiest way (AND FAST !!! ) to wipe it (we have no data on it and not used it at all so far) and get 8.2.3 running ?

I dont want/need to wipe all disks with that initialization menu since it takes 7 hours before i can start setup again.

any help appreciated. BTW i really would like to have 7-Mode instead of 8.2.3 Cluster Mode at the end

Hi All,

Quick disclaimer, I have basically no NetApp experience so please be gentle.

I have not been able to find an answer yet so just wanted to ask this community.

I inherited an FAS2240-2 and we had a disk failure.

We purchased some replacement drives (correct part number etc.) and long story short, we received another disk failure on that same slot.

After a bit of investigating I found that the replacement drive has a different firmware version than the other disks in the chasis - 

new disk NA03 and other disks NA02

My question was will the NetApp work correctly with disks running different firmware versions?

Or is this the cause of the second disk failure? (i was suspecting the issue was with the slot causing the 2 failures)

Can I download more than one update package?  I want to have both the 91_q_image.tgz and the 93_q_image.tgz image files on the cluster.  Upgrade from 8.3 to 9.1 and then 9.1 to 9.3 but have both images available?  What is the path for the package repository?  Can I create more space on this location?

I'm trying to pull the most recent configuration backup from my clustered netapp.

7mode allows you to do a simple 'config dump' but looks like its a bit trickier to get for CDOT.

I give up, I'll never be a Windows guy.

Please enlighten me: With no SnapDrive on board, how is it possible to identify the name of an iSCSI LUN on an ONTAP 9 filer?

I tried to match any sort of number from the outputs of

::> lun mapping show

::> lun show

and

::> iscsi session show

with the outputs of

PS C:\Users\admin> iscsicli

and

PS C:\Users\admin> Get-IscsiConnection

to no avail.

All I want is to find the name of the LUN/volume on Windows to find the corresponding object on the filer to modify.

Any clues?

I want to migrate data from am Windows2012 server to a NetApp CIFS share.

robocopy \\winserver\source \\vserver\destination /MIR /COPYALL /XO /FFT

It does the initial copy without errors. In the second run I ant to copy only changed files, but robcopy incorrectly recognizes everythig as changed and does the whole job again. Between two Windows servers robocopy works as expected. Only modified files are transferred in the second run.

Anybody else with this problem?

We have  a fresh built 4 node cluster with just aggr0 and vol0 nothing else has yet been done with it. I have been asked to upgrade it to 8.3 to allow for some testing. The 3rd party guys have left me the upgrade details but I am having some issues getting the image file onto the nodes.

The bytes transfered 482569420 is the file size of the original image file, this has been redownloaded hash checked etc so I am now a bit stuck with what to try next.

Are there any logs for this that might shed some light onto why the transfer fails ?

It seems that I have an "old aggregate" that is restricted and I cant find a way to delete it. This is inconvenient because I can't use the disks. Moreover the aggregate is visible only from one node. Any ideea how I can delete this old aggregate?

Hi guys,

I have the below command to create a policy for audit logging.

vserver audit create -vserver <vserver name> -destination <Unix Path> -rotate-schedule-minute <minute of the hour> -rotate-limit <no.of log files>

What is the destination here ?

its says <unix Path> but what exactly is a unix path?

In our system we have CIFS protocol licensing only. Therefore I cannot create a nfs export to facilitate a unix path.

can you please guide me?

Also do you guys have something like a general case, sample command in use for the above?

I am trying to delete a snapshot, but getting following message:

Error: command failed: Snapshot is in use

I used the option: -ignore-owners true -force true

still the same error.

No Snapmirror, snapvault or clone associaetd with the volume

Any idea how to delete it?

Hello, here  is a siple powershell GUI tool that you can use to collect info on Vols, LUN's and Aggrs. 

Script only contains get commands, so using read only account will work. Only tested on cDOT (commands like Get-Ncaggr).

View with Gridview and export to csv, html.
