I have a large database up to 159 GB. The database of SQL Server 2008 is saved on one machine. I don't have much knowledge about Import/Export wizard nor I have a secondary storage like pen drive which could store this 159 GB data to move database files from one machine to another. Is there any good option that I can use to migrate the database from SQL Server 2008 to 2014?

Noticed a new plugin in the SC Community Toolchest.

It is called DP Glue 1.0 .

Did some research. Did some thinking too.

When you download the package, there is a large readme file.

It would appear this product permits SnapProtect to call SnapCreator using the "sc_glue.exe" executable. It seems SnapProtect can ask DP Glue to quiesce and unquiesce the apps that SC supports like PostgreSQL -- which SnapProtect has no agent for.

The readme argues that the DP Glue makes error codes coming from SC easier for SP admins to comprehend.

What I do not like is that this is still listed as BETA code. And that SnapProtect can only have SC quiesce and unquiesce apps/dbs. Then again, I guess this keeps SP in charge of the snapshot process.

I will keep watching this one.

We have started making use of SnapCreator to take daily snapshots from the Primary node in the replicaSet.

My question is, if at any point the Primary switches between nodes would the snapshot (running from Secondary node) still be useful for recovery of the entire replicaSet? If so, what should be the steps if the snapshot has to be followed with opLog replay?

In general, what's the standard practice for using SnapCreator with MongoDB replicaSets? Snapshot from all nodes/volumes?

Thanks,

Laurik
