HANA 2.0 tenant database backup

Hello.

We are using snapcreator Version 4.3.1 tool

currently we have installaed new HANA 2.0 sps 02, when i tried configre the backup in snapcreator i have an error tenant database not supported

how can i schedule a backup for MDC database?

Hi SAPDB,

I've the same situation...

Here's what I got told by NetApp support:

SAP does not support Snapcreator Snapshot Backup for HANA 2.0 SP02.

As far as I understand, You have to use SnapCenter 3.0 instead of snapcreator.

Even SnapCenter 3.0 based HANA snapshots are only supported for HANA 2.0 SP02, MDC single tenant.

Actually there is no SAP supported way to use (at least NetApp-based) Snapshot backup on HANA 2.0 SP02 MDC multiple tenant systems.

With HANA 2.0 SPS1, the default operation mode became HANA MDC single tenant.

The single container operation mode is not available anymore starting with HANA 2.0 SPS1.

Single container systems will be automatically migrated to MDC singel tenant with an update to HANA 2.0 SPS1.

All new installations will be MDC single tenant by default.

SAP introduced storage Snaphsot support for MDC single tenant systems with HANA 2.0 SPS1, but not yet for MDC multiple tenants.

This is not a restriction for NetApp Snapshot backups, but is the case for any vendor.

Also the interface to manage backups has been changed for MDC singel tenant systems.

Snap Creator only supports storage Snapshot backups for HANA single container systems.

Data protection for MDC single tenant and the "old" single container systems can be done with SnapCenter 3.0 and the HANA plug-in.

I guess, that's more or less what I've said, in a more detailed way.

I'm really looking forward on how and when snapshot will be supported for multi tenant.
