topic SnapCreator Clone vs Performance Impact on Parent(Prod) Volume in Data Protection

To refresh a "report database", we may use use SnapCreator to take a fresh backup as a base for creating the clone for "report database". The clone's parent (Production)volume is the Production Database volume.

My understanding is, any reads to the "report database" will actually still retrieve data from Production database volume blocks before spin the clone off. Thus, that will cause a performance degradation on Production database if client is reading as well , especially, if we have a couple of such "report database".

Is my understanding correct?

Is there anyway to avoid the performance degradation on Production, other than spin-off?

Thank you for you advice!
