SnapProtect SQL Backup using Instance 2

Can anyone help with an issue i'm having backing up the CommCell SQL database? Setup Instance 2 as per the CVFailover documentaion however

The SQL back job fails @10% with the following error:

Error Code: [62:64] Description: Failure to fetch information from CommServe Database. Source: Servername, Process: VssSwProvider

Do get a VSS error in the event log on the Windows server 2012R2 box:

Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error querying for the IVssWriterCallback interface. hr = 0x80070005, Access is denied.

. This is often caused by incorrect security settings in either the writer or requestor process.

The job events talk about issues with the snapshot of the Volume:

Failed to delete snapshot of volume [S:\] - id [5151] backup job [7095] client [Servername_Instance2] array [] snap engine [NetApp] by [Application].

Can anyone offer suggestions?

Is your SQL database residing on VMDK or on a NetApp RDM LUN?
