SnapProtect MySQL and PostgreSQL iData Agents

Hi Guys,

Does SnapProtect support MySQL and PostgreSQL DBs?

When I try to deploy these agents to a client, I get an error stating that there are some packages missing and that I should update the SnapProtect Software Cache. I also noticed that these iDAs are not present for installation on the client from the install media. So they're not on the media, but they show up when you right-click a client and select"the "install software" option.

I know Simpana 10 supports them. Just wondering about SnapProtect. I have v10 SP10 installed.

Hi Frank,

MySQL and PostgreSQL are not documented as supproted agents in SnapProtect as you can see in http://docs.snapprotect.com and http://mysupport.netapp.com/matrix.

I just got the same confirmation from NetApp Support. Would you know if there are any plans to include support for them in a future release?

Sorry for the delay. I´dont have information about the roadmap of SnapProtect. For MySQL and PostgreSQL you can use the NDMP iDA and configure pre/post scripts to backup any not supported DB or Application with SnapProtect.

SnapProtect V10 SP10 hotfix46 would suggest PostGres 9.3 IS supported:

"Following issue is fixed with this update:

• In PostgreSQL 9.3, log backups periodically skip ranges of archive logs."
