hello,

i have a problem with snapmanager 6.0.0.706.

server: windows server 2008 r2 x64 with exchange 2010

the snapmanager service crashes

The SnapManager Service service terminated unexpectedly

on the backup status we have the last task: completing snapmanager backup

and then the following error occurs:

backup failed: the communication object, system.servicemodel.channels,servicechannel, cannot be used for communication because it is in the faulted state.

any ideas?

we opened a case at netapp but no answer till yet.

I came a bit further with NetApp support. When the option to send an email for notifications is selected in the configuration wizard the Snapmanager will crash. If the option is disabled the snapmanager will behave normally. Even though the snapmanager will crash, after running the configuration wizard and creating a backup job, when the job is scheduled this will run normally when the service is started again. It is just crashing when using the GUI. This bug is not published for the public but can be followed for a fix using this url.

This issue also occurs running snapdrive 6.2p1 and SME 6.0p1. Lets hope this is fixed soon.

i have sme6.0_x64.exe and snapdrive6.2_x64.exe installed

exchange 2010 sp1 was published a few days ago. i am not sure if this is a problem with snapmanager or the server itself.

the error above was because the data ontap service was disabled. now it is enabled and i am having the following error:

after installing the p1 from snapdrive the snapshots are now working with no error.

thanks for this information.

we had opened a case at netapp but it was closed without decision.

so does netapp told you about this error and that you should install p1?
