Hello,

I have a FAS270 running NetApp Release 7.0.1R1P3 of DataOntap. I need to upgrade to an LTO5 library to replace the a broken down LTO2 library.

I do not want to upgrade Ontap on this unit if it is not absolutely necessary because Netapp no longer offers support for this unit the unit runs 24/7 production.

Does anyone know if DataOntap 7.0.1R1P3 will support LTO5 libraries? Is there anything I can do short of upgrading Ontap to facilitate connection of an LTO5 library?

Thanks

Jimmy

No support for it http://now.netapp.com/NOW/knowledge/docs/hardware/NetApp/syscfg/scdot701/index.htm

But you can look at /etc/cloned_tapes (ontap will change the string of lto5 to lto2 if you tell it too in the file with the "EMULATES" parameter)...this is rarely used and usually people use a tape_config file in the /etc/tape_config directory to define the tape drive. You can find tape config files pre-made here...but no official support for LTO5 even though it likely works. http://now.netapp.com/NOW/download/tools/tape_config/index.shtml
