Upgrading ONTAP 7.3.4 to 8.1 Mode

Hi All,

Can i upgrade from 7.3.4 to 8.1 directly or do i need to update it first to 7.3.6 and then to 8.1 please advise and please note this in CLUSTER MODE ACTIVE-ACTIVE.

Please help with the procedure to upgrade. If have any step-by-step Document please update it here.

Hi,

Yes it can be upgraded directly.

For detail I suggest to refer to "My Autosupport" page of the your controller.

You can extract the Data ONTAP upgrade plan from there.

Hi Nayab,

Just double-checking what you are really after - do you mean upgrade from 7.3.4 7-Mode (as there is no other mode) to 8.1 Cluster-Mode??

Or by "Cluster Mode" you actually meant it is a clustered pair & the target version will be 8.1 7-Mode?

Hi there,

upgrading from 7.3.6 to 8.1 7-mode is straight forward, follow the steps of upgrade advisor from "My Autosupport". It is non-disruptive.

upgrading from 7.3.6 to 8.1 clustermode is a total revamp, it requires down time.
