Panic: Root volume: "aggr0" is corrupt

I have OnTap 7.3 running in a VM and had to hard reboot my laptop. Now when I try to run the OnTap Simulator I get an error stating a PANIC: Root volume: "aggr0" is corrupt. Has anyone seen this and is there a utility to run to validate?

No promises (it is a sim after all), but if you edit your runsim.sh file and find the line where it starts the sim up (runs the maytag.L file). On that line there is probably a -f flag. If you get rid of that flag and then run 'runsim.sh', it will prompt you for a floppy boot. Say yes and it will boot to the 1-5 menu. From there you can run WAFL_check on aggr0 which may be able to fix it. Enter '22/7' if you don't see it on the menu and you'll see it there.

Like I said, this isn't pretty and I've never done it on a sim before, but it's worth a shot.

I don't see WAFL_check on the menu. I have tried "22" and "22/7" as a menu option with no results. It just responds with the same menu options.

Any suggestions?

Ok...I got WAFL_check to run and it appeared to resolve some things, but now I'm getting a different PANIC error.

Replaying WAFL log

Can't replay WAFL non-volatile RAM log.
Requests in the few seconds before the system went down may be lost.

It's hidden. I just brought up my sim to test. When you get to the 1-5 menu, just enter WAFL_check. It will then prompt you if you want to check each aggr. Select the 'y' for the one you want.

Give that a try.

Ok. Try to bring it up again and see if it'll come up. Basically since you don't have a real NVRAM on a sim, you may have lost up to 10s of data. Hopefully after the core dump it cleared the NVRAM and started over.

Spent 4 hours configuring several virtual sims for a test.

This morning the desktop running the VMs was down.

Went to the store to buy UPS. Happy I was that all will be good and

then .... I ran into 'aggr0 is corrupt' on all sims.

Your tip saved me time and I learned a new skill.
