topic vol0 backup and restore in ONTAP Discussions

We're having a discussion on DR backup and recovery and the question came up on how to handle vol0. Is there any sense to including the vol0 backup into the DR materials? In a DR scenario we would most probably be restoring to dissimilar equipment. I could see restoring hosts, exports, usermap, etc. - but as far as the entire volume... Thoughts? Also, is there a way to backup and restore the CIFS shares information?

vol0 backup will help you recovering original filer as it was. By restoring vol0, you can skip most of reconfiguring steps on original filer. Moreover, you can check configuration of original filer from vol0 backup if needed.
