Hi,

I am adding two new shelves with NSE drives (NetApp Storage Encryption) to an existing array that has NSE shelves already.

My question is very simple. Do I need to have all the users off the array when I install the new drives or can I hot add the shelves, creates the aggregates and volumes with the users on the array.

I understand that I need to "lock" the new drives and the procedure for that is : disk encrypt lock *

I am concerned the disk encrypt lock * command will lock the existing lock drives and interfere with the i/o from the users.

Does anyone else have more direct experience with this procedure?

Do I have to have the users off the array or can I hot add the shelves?

Thanks,
