If you want to sanitize disks so old data is not visible you can simply reinitialize them (special boot menu - 4). If this is not a concern - simply reattach shelves to new head and destroy foreign aggregates there.

Hi,

I have two FAS3270s in HA running OnTAP 8.1.4P7. I need to remove all volumes/aggregates including the root volume and unown all the disks so some of the shelves can be reattached to a different controller. How do I go about doing it since the root volume is needed to run?

Thanks,

All or some of the shelves from the HA pair. If some, you are going to have to shutdown the controllers to remove the shelves..

If it's some, then you need to move /etc to a new root vol
