    <description>&lt;P&gt;Note that although its true, the SVM must be joined to a domain to provide cifs services, the client machine &amp;amp; the user do not have to be domain members or have domain accounts. &amp;nbsp;They can have&amp;nbsp;a local user account within the context of the SVM and authenticate as SVMNAME\user. &amp;nbsp; SVMNAME is the CIFS Server name specified when the SVM was joined to the domain, not necessarily the name of the SVM itself.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
