    <description>&lt;P&gt;The HBA has 4 ports, a- d but only 2 ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits).&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;One of the ASICs controls ports a &amp;amp; b, and the other controls ports c &amp;amp; d.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;In your case, this makes the ASIC a single point of failure.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;You should use either ports a &amp;amp; c or ports b &amp;amp; d.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;That way, even if one of the ASICs should fail, you will still have connectivity to the disk shelf.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi Guys,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have error alerts which says "Disk shelf 12 is connected to HBA ports 2a and 2b which are both controlled by a single chip." &amp;nbsp; what does this mean .&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;On the controller if i run sysconfig -a , it shows up as multipath HA.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
