Hi FOlk,

We're on 9.2P3, and we discovered to our pleasure that it is possible to create clones on a different VServer to the parent!

vol clone create -vserver svm1 -flexclone stutest2 -type RW -parent-vserver svm2 -parent-volume stutest01

Is anyone else using this function?

I guess the catch is that have to make sure that your clones don't degrade the performance of the parent volume (or other vols on the aggregate)

Hi

NetApp making an effort to take most of the serial operations down to very granular levels (forgot the name they call it, but it's stripes of blocks). so a single object like File LUN. Volume. Aggregate are less commonly to be a bottleneck unless it goes all the way down to the disk (e.g the disk is very busy)
