&lt;P&gt;we have a 7mode box that fails to send autosupport emails [sometimes] and we need to understand why, i found the below error in the log files, can someone please tell me what could be the reason for this...&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Generally this is due to the SMTP server requiring login to send. This is not supported for AutoSupport submission. You can attempt to diagnose further by running a packet capture on the filer against your SMTP server's address, using the instructions at&amp;nbsp;&lt;A href="https://kb.netapp.com/app/answers/answer_view/a_id/1029832" target="_blank"&gt;https://kb.netapp.com/app/answers/answer_view/a_id/1029832&lt;/A&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;We strongly suggest using HTTPS as the transport method - this supports authenticated proxies if needed.
