I have equipment in my laboratory where I need to replace a disk, I was wondering if I can replace it with a different model but with the same capacity, replace the model X426_TA14E1T8A10 with X343_STBTE1T8A10.

Possibly yes.. depends on your system (controller and ONTAP version).

Check hwu.netapp.com for details. Below there's a few information from there. Also, confirm you DQP is updated (here).

X426A-R6 SAS ( 1800GB, 10k )

DS2246 - 7-mode (8.1.2) through 9.8

DS224C - 9.0 through 9.8

FAS2240-2 - 7-mode (8.1.2) through 9.1

FAS2552 - 7-mode (8.2.2) through 9.8

FAS2650 - 9.1 through 9.8

FAS2750 - 9.4 through 9.8

X343A-R6 SAS ( 1800GB, 10k )

DS2246 - 9.0 through 9.8

DS224C - 9.0 through 9.8

FAS2240-2 - 9.0 through 9.1

FAS2552 - 9.0 through 9.8

FAS2650 - 9.1 through 9.8

FAS2750 - 9.4 through 9.8

Regards,

Pedro

My controller is a FAS8060 so what I saw on the hwa is supported yes, my biggest doubt is if I could mix disks with the same capacity, but with different serial numbers in the same aggregate.

Yes you can as long you respect what is in the HWU.

What you must check is disk type and size. You should always try to use the same inside an aggregate. Sometimes one could have to mix sizes, but never type (SAS, SATA, etc).

Regards

Pedro

Yep, that's fine.

The difference between the two is that the X343 is only supported for ONTAP 9.0 and later, while the X426 is supported in Data ONTAP 8.1.2 and later. But they are literally the same OEM drives and firmwares - I can't even begin to speculate why we made the distinction between the two of them.
