A 8TB X318 disk is supported by DS212C shelf, and a 8TB X376 disk is supported by DS460C shelf. we plan to connect a DS212C shelf and a DS460C shelf to FAS2620 in the same stack. As per HWU, the difference of X318 and X376 disk is disk interface speed (X318 suports 12,6&3GB, X376 suports 12GB). Can two types disks be used as hot spare disk with each other?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

You can mix disk and Ontap will pick spare based on different criteria, although this configuration might not be recommended. The link below would give you some more details about how a spare would work:

https://library.netapp.com/ecmdocs/ECMP12458210/html/GUID-8A91F6A2-61B8-42C3-AEAB-7D5AA9BBE9CF.html

Thanks
